Business & Economic Development

The Patagonia General Plan lays out two objectives for the Town relating to business growth and development:

  1. To encourage the expansion of existing businesses and the construction of new, compatible, locally owned businesses.

2. To support tourist-based or other employment or revenue-generating locally-owned, compatible, commercial development.

We plan to achieve these objectives by:

a.) Seeking out and providing assistance, where appropriate, for individuals looking to grow new or existing businesses that are consistent with our vision of the Town.

b.) Simplifying and streamline our procedures and requirements to make them as business-friendly as possible, again consistent with furthering our vision of the Town as spelled out in the General Plan.

c.) Working with partners at the local, regional and state level to make resources available to start or grow compatible businesses in Patagonia.

If you are ready to start or grow a business in Patagonia, call 520-394-2229 and let us help you get started.

The Community Protection & Benefit Agreement

The Community Protection & Benefit Agreement (CPBA) is a formal agreement between the Town, the County, the City of Nogales and South 32 related to the Hermosa project near Patagonia.

Early Actions Progress Report

The Early Actions Community Investment Agreement between The Town, The City of Nogales, The County and South32 has been officially executed. The next step was to submit Scopes of Work for each entity’s projects. The Town has submitted all Scopes of Work, and they were recently approved. The next step is to submit a line-item budget for each project; once all entities have approved it, South32 will fund the projects directly. Some projects are design-build, and some are design only. For the design-only projects, the construction funding will be included in Phase 1 CPBA Early Actions Direct Funding.
